Smart Design Factory is a one-person mechanical and electronics design practice run by Richard, based in Quebec. The mechanical side covers structural, sheet metal, and plastic injection design — concept through production drawings, with manufacturability reviewed at every step along the way. The electronics side focuses on PCB reverse engineering, with a specialty in pulling 1970s and 80s through-hole boards forward into modern surface-mount layouts. That includes substituting obsolete components and digitizing original Diazo films when no source files survive. 35 years of mechanical experience; 20 years of PCB work; clients across Canada and the United States.
